Catbird’s 24x7, every 2 minute, monitoring ensures that IT administrators are always up-to-date on the health of their systems, networks and web infrastructure. Facilitating this communication are Catbird’s instant alerts. Catbird sends immediate alert notifications whenever error conditions are detected, letting administrators determine the best course of action with full knowledge in a timely manner.
Users have the ability to select how they want to receive alerts—by email, pager, or via text message to a PDA or cell phone.
To eliminate false notifications, users are able to "dampen" alerts. Several types of dampening are available:
- Agent Dampening–Notifications are only sent after the user-specified number of agents report the same error condition
- Time Dampening – Notifications are only sent after the same agent reports the error for the user-set number of consecutive monitoring periods
